Science & Beauty offers Dermal Filler treatments in the greater New York City area.
Dermal fillers are a very popular treatment to help smooth facial lines and wrinkles. Dermal fillers work by plumping up the underlying tissue in areas of the face where time has caused a loss of collagen and volume. There are two main types of Dermal Fillers on the market today – those made with hyaluronic acid (found naturally in your body) like Juvederm, Restylane or Perlane, and synthetic dermal fillers such as Sculptra or Radiesse.
Used alone, Dermal Fillers are not especially effective on areas of the face where lines and wrinkles are caused by underlying muscle action. For those areas (frown lines on the forehead, smile lines around the mouth, or crow’s feet), muscle relaxers such as Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin are the preferred method of treatment.
Anyone experiencing facial lines and wrinkles caused by the natural loss of collagen and volume over time are excellent candidates for Dermal Fillers.
The benefits of Dermal Fillers include:
During your treatment, your provider will identify the areas of concern and use a fine-gauge needle to inject the Dermal Filler into targeted areas of your face. You may feel slight discomfort at the injection sites and a topical anesthetic can first be applied. You may experience slight swelling or redness at the injection sites, which should resolve in 1-2 days. You can resume normal activity after a Dermal Filler treatment; however, strenuous activity should be avoided for 12 hours.
